FAQs:
Frequently Asked Questions About The Bountea Compost Tea System
Q. Does the Bountea System work on flowers, shrubs and trees, or only vegetables?
A. The Bountea System is effective for all growing plants because it works with the soil. You can use the Bountea Compost Tea on your houseplants, flowerbeds, lawns, shrubs and trees as well as your vegetables. It is particularly useful to give transplants and seedlings a healthy start.
Q. Is Bountea Compost Tea a fertilizer?
A. No. The Bountea Compost Tea System enhances the natural ecology of the soil. It is based on biological principles and does not introduce any unnatural chemicals into your soil. Bountea Compost Tea has bacteria that actively make organic nitrogen and other minerals available to the plant roots.
Q. Do I need to use any fertilizers in addition to the Bountea System?
A. No. The Bountea Compost Tea System is all you need to help your garden thrive. If you use the Soil Life Starter, Bountea Compost Tea, M3, and Root Web as directed, there is little need for additional fertilization. However, a good organic fertilizer with bulky organic matter is beneficial for depleted soils. It is essential to use good cultivation techniques on your soil. Introduce humus such a Alaska Humisoil and organic compost regularly.
Q. What is the difference between Bountea Compost Tea and other compost teas?
A. Most compost teas use ordinary compost or worm castings as their central components. Bountea Compost Tea uses Living Alaska Humisoil, a fine-grained humus tested free of all chemicals and pathogens. Living Alaska Humisoil contains a natural balance of beneficial bacteria and fungi not found in any other product. Also, Bountea Compost Tea uses a specially developed Bioactivator that nourishes and enormously multiplies the microbes during brewing.
Q. Is the Bountea Compost Tea System organic?
A. All components of the Bountea Compost Tea System comply with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Organic Program (NOP). The Living Alaska Humisoil has been extensively tested and found to be free of all pollutants, chemicals, toxins, and pathogens. However, because we do not control the brewing process, we are unable to guarantee that the brewed product is fully organic.
Q. How often do I need to apply Bountea Compost Tea?
A. On new, untreated or toxic ground, start with an application of Soil Life Starter at the beginning of your season. Then apply Bountea Compost Tea every week for the first four weeks. For normal organic soil, apply every two to four weeks for the growing season. Bountea cannot be over-applied. The effects of the Bountea Compost Tea System are cumulative. You will find increased benefits the following season.
Q. How much ground does one gallon of Bountea treat?
A. Each gallon of Bountea will treat 250 to 500 square feet of garden when diluted. That is an area 10' x 25 – 50 feet. On lawns, you can use one gallon of Bountea for every 800 square foot of grass (20' x 40').
Q. How long does it take the Bountea Compost Tea System to work?
A. The Bountea System is based on biological and ecological principles. Unlike chemical fertilizers, the results are not apparent immediately. Expect to see results in three to six weeks after application. You will notice stronger growth and extensive root systems in your plants. Results will be even better next season.
Q. How does the Bountea Compost Tea System increase pest and disease resistance?
A. Stronger, healthier plants are naturally more resistant to disease and stress. They have stronger “immune” systems. It has been found that pests are also attracted to weaker plants that have a lower brix level (measure of sugars in the cells). Application of Bountea increases the brix level of plants. Root Web introduces beneficial fungi that actively fight off other harmful strains of fungi. Furthermore, using Bountea as a foliar spray coats the leaves of plants with microbes that protect the plant.
